Frederik ringing the bell for Denmark in New York

Crown Prince Frederik and Danish Deputy Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen were invited to conduct the opening of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and sign themselves into the visitor’s book. And so Frederik was standing on the balcony and rang the bell at 9:30 a.m. with the opening broadcast world-wide to more than 120 million viewers. NYSE CEO John Thain welcomed the delegation with breakfast and presented a unique NYSE gift to Crown Prince Frederik. The visit concluded with a guided tour and a final stop at the desk where the Novo Nordisk stocks are traded.

BoConcept highlights new designs of the coming season and shows the origins and philosophy of its "urban design". Mary was presented with a painted portrait of herself (it appeared to be a copy of a photograph taken during the final press conference in Australia in March 2005)

IKON is a kaleidoscopic exhibition of Danish design through the history, life, work and products of five Danish design brands; Bang & Olufsen (sound and vision), Fritz Hansen (furniture), Georg Jensen (jewellery and silverware), Louis Poulsen (lighting) and Royal Copenhagen (porcelain). Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, and Deputy Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen attended a VIP opening.

Meanwhile Billed Bladet reports that Christian is at home at Chancellery House with his grandfather and step-grandmother, doing all his usual things except that his parents and sister are "missing". Christian also has his nanny Mette Hansen to make sure all is well, while John and Susan Donaldson are staying with Christian during the trip to New York. Monday was a bit odd for Christian because his parents and sister were there in the morning, but not there when he got home from his few hours at day nursery. So, although Mary and Frederik had said special goodbyes, he was not alone and was perfectly happy playing about when Billed Bladet encountered him with John and Susan Donaldson, and Ziggy, walking in Fredensborg Palace Park on Monday afternoon.
